At a time of shrinking resources, fewer personnel and greater challenges, we find ourselves seeking suggestions, solutions, methods, ideas and ways to get things done.

Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education invites you to be inspired by Dr.Janelle Ashley as she explores the theme of "Rising to the Challenge: Doing More with Less".

Keynote Speaker

Dr.Janelle C.Ashley was selected by the Board of Trustees on March 26, 2002 to serve as the tenth president of Worcester State College. She left her position as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Stephen F. Austin State University(SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas, to be come the first female president in the college's 128-year history. Her educational career of more than 30 years spans liberal arts, management, and teacher education and a commitment to liberal learning. As Vice President, she prepared the university's Strategic Plan for four biennial sessions of the Texas legislature and served as the architect for the current five-year plan. Her background also includes consulting and management development in higher education, business, and government. She received her docorate in Management from University of North Texas, her master's in English and bachelor's in Business Administration from SFA. She and her husband, Ray, have three grown children.

The organization establishes an information and support network, enhances professional development, encourages and promotes upward mobility, and addresses issues affecting Massachusetts public higher education and the status of women within the system.
